Along with provisions, chandlers also deliver supplies, equipment, and machinery right to the ships. When ships need rope, propellers, or other supplies, these have to be delivered very quickly, thus large warehouses are required.

They provide materials for shipbuilding and finishings, as well as for technical equipment.

They also equip the docks and supply materials for the maritime infrastructure.
