Measured in both area and container volumes, the Container Terminal Burchardkai is the largest cargo handling facility in the Port of Hamburg. More than 5,000 ships per year are loaded and discharged at ten berths with a total of 27 container gantries. The capacity will nearly double when it is increased to 5.2 million TEU in the coming years. Among other things, modern Twin-Forty container cranes will help reach that goal. They load or unload two 40-foot containers in a single movement.
